The Burn Center accepts military and civilians

The Burn Center at USAISR

USAISR Burn Strong

Mission

The US Army Institute of Surgical Research Burn Center is unique. Not only are we the only American Burn Association-verified burn center in South Texas, we also are the only such center in the Department of Defense. We care for both injured warfighters and their families from around the world, and for injured civilians from our local communities. We are a team of almost 300 burn-care professionals-doctors, nurses, therapists, and many others-all passionately focused on one goal: optimal recovery, restoration of function, and community reintegration of the burn survivors entrusted to our care. To this end, we provide state-of-the-art critical care, surgery, and rehabilitation.

What We Do

The Army Burn Center has a long history of providing comprehensive care to both military and civilian patients. We provide specialized inpatient and outpatient care to those with burn and burn-like injuries. Find out more about the referral process, how to get to the hospital, and resources for burn patients and their families.

The Army Burn Center offers a 24/7 consultation service staffed by specialty-trained burn surgeons. We are always available to answer your questions and to facilitate referrals. We also offer medical education content and a wide variety of training opportunities.

Most burn injuries are preventable. In addition to taking care of our patients, the Army Burn Center strives to raise awareness regarding burn-injury prevention.
